Order a Recycling Bin
Drop-Off Recycling
The recycling containers include informational decals that make recycling easier for area citizens. Decals show which materials are accepted in the recycling program and instruct citizens on placement of the materials into the appropriate openings in the bins.
Large Bins for Mixed Containers and Mixed Paper
The large green collection bins are for mixed paper and mixed food/beverage containers and have a divider in the center to keep the items separate. Residents collecting paper items at home for drop-off recycling can combine mixed paper items such as junk mail, cardboard, computer and office paper, phone books, and cereal/dry food boxes.
Aluminum and steel cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles and jars should be contained separately from the mixed paper items. All recyclable containers should be rinsed, but labels do not need to be removed.
Please
do not
place plastic bags (garbage or grocery) filled with recyclables into the drop-off containers.

for more information on what can be recycled.
Small Bins for Newspaper and Glossy Paper
These paper items can be deposited loosely or bagged within paper grocery bags.
Accepted items include:
Newspaper (including Glossy Inserts/Slick Advertisements)
Magazines
Catalogs
Other Recyclable Items
Recycling is also available for brush (no stumps or grass clippings), tires, oil and filters, paint, batteries, propane tanks, and appliances containing Freon. There may be a disposal fee associated with some of these items
(see fee schedule).
Electronic Recyclable Items
Electronic items are being accepted during normal hours of operation at the Central Convenience Center
only
. Acceptable items include computers, computer monitors, printers, televisions.
Freon Recovery Program
The Freon recovery program enables participating jurisdictions to comply with state and federal regulations which ban the atmospheric release of Chloroflourocarbons (CFCs) and Hydrochloroflourocarbons (HCFCs). Many used and discarded appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers contain these ozone-depleting gases. By recycling these items, the Freon gasees are extracted and the empty appliances will also be recycled through metal scrap dealers or through the CVWMA's Appliance & Scrap metal recycling program.
Household Wastes
Goochland County also accepts motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, paint and other materials. Acceptable paint materials include: latex and oil-based paints, varnish/shellac, stain and tints, paint and lacquer thinners, polyurethane, primer, turpentine, oil additives, leaded/unleaded gasoline, and gasoline additives. The County also accepts used propane tanks, and rechargeable and lead acid batteries.
